Chasing Emma and Mom's Bday

Spent yesterday babysitting Emma all day for her parents since they went to Price to get some shopping and what not done. It was a great day. I just love having her around, she is my lil tulip in the middle of winter. While she was out dancing around on the snow, it dawned on me that its been a long time since I had a photo shoot with Emma. So the pictures above are the best from what I took from our day together. We went for rides around town, bought some ice cream at the Chowhound, played in the snow and watched cartoons all day long. Shes so cute, she had to be the one that paid the money for the ice cream. So I gave her the dollar to pay for it. It makes her feel grown up, shes so desparate to grow up too. She always tells me shes big now, when I tell her big ppl have to help do something. I also love watching her play with my parents. She gets a lil ruff with them, ie like jumping on them when one is taking a nap. But they love it.
Today is my moms birthday and what is she doing today? Sleeping! Yep its nearly 3 pm and shes still sleeping. Well thats becuz she works the grave yard shift at the Comfort Inn. So as part of our present to her today is to let her sleep as long as she wants. No interruptions. lol. Well I woke her up once becuz I made her a cake.
Its a chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting colored pink. I definitely looks homemade but I think it works. :) I love you mom! Happy Birthday!

Its February!!!

Can you believe a whole month has already passed this year? Where did January go?? Oh well I am glad its over, I am so ready for spring to come. I am starting to get cabin fever, so I have been trying to keep myself busy with different crafts. I think the valentines one above turned out well. Its just a small wooden board painted a raspberry color with smaller lil wood shapes covered in scrapbooking paper. And then I wrote the letters on each square. The lil hearts are plastic table gems. The large wooden plank is wide enough for it to stand on its own.
The picture above is actually the lid to a heart shaped paper mache box. Although I can't find the box portion right now. I made this one a few years ago, but I still like it. I bought the paper mache box from the craft store, Michaels. I really love that store! Next time I travel to West Jordan, I am definitely making a trip there.
Since I hadn't shared these mexican toys with you, I thought I would do a lil sharing time with you. This fan and mexican doll is from Matzalan, Mexico. My friends went on a Mexican cruise this past November and they were sweet enough to buy these for me. I really enjoy them. I like to collect figurines and this is perfect. Plus you cant go wrong with a fan on a hot sunny day. I was going to go with them, but I didn't think I would be able to save up in time plus have money for everything else last summer. One of these days, I will go on a cruise. Hopefully maybe to Hawaii or Alaska. Those sound like fun.
But anyways, I thought I would share what I have been up to. I did do a lil sewing today. My sweet mother got my sewing machine working great and so I am looking forward to many days sewing blocks together. I do think I will get it done,.....someday! lol
See you all later!

ok I lied about having no snow

I wrote my last blog last night, might I add it was late last night. And at that time there was not much snow left to melt, but when I woke up this morning, this is what I found.......................ew snow.

Yep its the cold white death. SNOW! EW! Probably another couple of inches at that. Needless to say I know what my lil brother, Mikey was doing this morning. Plowing snow off 1-70! And its still snowing as we speak. Grrrr! I guess I will have to wear socks today if I go outside. If you know me very well you will know that I hate socks, and shoes that require tying. Cause I am lazy and crazy like that. Well I should look at it this way, I probably should be inside sewing on my blanket while I am cooped up. lol Maybe I will try and fix the sewing machine  myself. My mom is trying to rearrange the living room. I probably should help her move the couch, so I better make this a short blog.  Oh and about my followers, I probably should mention I know I have anonymous readers, so I felt bad that I said I only had 6. So HI everyone! Dont be shy to come out of your hidey holes! I see you!

So what are your thoughts about snow??? Or are you ready for Sprintime, like I am?

Quilt for July

This is my partially completed throw quilt top that I am trying to complete by July 2010. I started this thing last summer, right after my mom and I came home from our family reunion in Idaho. My aunts are gifted quilters and thats all they talked about. It got me into thinking I should try again. Last time I was really serious about it was in my quiltmaking class during my Snow College years. I got out my trusty Quiltmaking class
text book.
And btw I love this book. It shows you in detail how to do a lot of different 12x12 quilt blocks. So I am starting to use one of my favorite patterns which is the pinwheel block. I wanted to try and get this done by next July because thats when my family reunion once again in Idaho is. They are already getting plans sorted out as we speak. I want to show my quilt to all of them. I figured if I tried for July I may be able to get this one quilt completely done. I am only trying for a throw blanket sized quilt top so this will aid in my slowness. lol. My sewing machine is also giving me fits. My mom is trying to figure out the tension on the thread, so it doesnt keep breaking as well. Hopefully when that problem is fixed, the sewing part will be a lot faster.
Also been feeling a lil crafty, so I have been searching through all my craft blogs that I follow for cute valentine projects to do. When I get something finished I will post a picture!
So most of the snow around here is starting to melt fast! Which is leaving my road in a muddy boggy mess. My family parks our cars on the lawn its so bad. I can't wait for the warmth of Spring! *Dreams of Springtime* Oh and I want to mention that I have more ppl reading my blog! Thanks for reading! I am up to 6 followers! Amazing!
So question of the week is. If you were to make a craft, what would it be and why?

New Blog header!

I can't believe its been nearly a week since last I posted! Its funny how I can post 4 entries in one week alone and then nothing! lol. I crack myself up sometimes. Maybe it was the whole new year feeling and now its back to the same ole thing day in and day out. But today I thought I would be creative and see if I can figure out how to make a decent blog header. So I went into my photobucket account and looked for a great picture for the background. The picture I used was from last summer, when the community center tried to have an outside movie theater. Sadly I never went to it. Of course, I didn't know when the shows were. The screen now has been taken down and the pews are in sad shape due to the weather. I wish so much there was a real theater here in town. That would be so awesome. I tire of having to wait to go out of town to see a show that everyone wants to see.
So what have I been up to lately? Well a whole bunch of nothing. lol. Seriously though I hate this time of year. The snow is still on the ground and nobody is traveling down here which means nobody is renting rooms. That equals a paycheck that is barely able to cover my bills. I can't wait for Springtime! Although the prospect of Valentines Day is cheering me up. Why in the world would I be happy for it? I don't know, I just love that holiday. I love baking goodies and giving them away. I love making people happy. I am thinking of making a cupcake bar for my friends. What is that you say? Well from what I have read, (yeah I haven't tried it before but it sounds fun) I will be making cupcakes, and cookies. Maybe even a cake. Then I lay a table out with all the frosting and sprinkles I can find. Then I invite people over to decorate and eat! Even watch a movie while we are at it. Sounds like a great Valentines party to me!
Oh I almost forgot, last week I went to the dentist. I was in so much tooth pain, it felt like a guy had punched me in the face. My entire left eye felt swollen and tender, but it didnt appear so. But yeah nonetheless I went in to the dentist and found out that my wisdom tooth needed to be pulled. I told them get that sucker out of there! So yeah it feels so good to be able to sleep through the night without a ton of pain killers. But anyways, I gotta go and entertain Emma. Laterz!

OH PS. Leave me a comment and tell me what you think of my blog header! Don't be shy!

Daily Rides!

So I thought I would share this photo with you. I know a lot of other people who are sharing random pictures and then talking about them. So I guess this is my random picture for today.
This was taken today by my brother, Zuki, on one of our many trips out in the country. I absolutely love going for rides with my brother. My dad happened to be with us today too. I know for some people going for rides just means wasting gas and time, but for my family its a bonding experience. Almost everyday since the begining of the New Year, we have been going out in the country and looking for a couple of herds of deer. We don't want to shoot them, just capture them with our camera. Of all the times we have gone out, the picture above is the only one that turned out pretty good. But we have seen lots of deer, and one of them only had one antler. We have been trying to photograph him, but he likes to hide really well.
I also like going for rides because for me its a calming experience and it helps me think about things. Like if I wanted to have a talk with someone I would take them for a ride and the words just come out smoothly while I am driving. I don't know why, they just do.

These pictures are from other daily rides, but they are pretty too. Thanks for reading!

Does it Matter and Better Tomorrows

Its nearly been a year since my divorce has been finalized. Although it felt like the divorce was final the day we separated, which was the end of August 2008. Since then its been quite the experience. Not one that I would recommend to anyone. Can anyone feel so broken and damaged? I sure did. I think I only survived through the love, patience and understanding of my parents, family and friends. Oh and my therapist, Ron, as well as my bishop. I still have days when the loneliness is almost to hard to bear and I have to shout a loud to STOP! Get over it, everyone else has. Its now January 2010 and as long as I try not to talk about it, I do fine. So back to my blog title. Does it Matter? It doesnt anymore, whats done is done. The only thing we should be looking at is the tomorrows and how we can make those better than today. And maybe that will be my new years resolution, to make my tomorrows better than the todays.

I was watching the movie, "He's Just Not That Into You" and at the end they had a quote I liked.
"Maybe the happily ever after is the moving on". Sometimes that is absolutely true! Here's to moving on to something better! I hope that it comes my way soon, I hate waiting for long! lol. I just barely found this quote and I wanted to hurry and edit my post and add it.

"Forgiveness does not mean that you support or endorse what happened. Forgiveness means that you are bigger than what happened, and confident enough to move on past it."
I dont know who said this, it was a status of a friend on facebook. It really stuck a cord with me, and I know its true.
Here are some more quotes I loved from Sex in the City:
" Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous"

"No matter who broke your heart, or how long it takes to heal, you'll never get through it without your friends."

And of course there is my favorite quote of all from Moulin Rouge.
"The greatest thing you will ever learn is just to love and be loved in return"

I know its a month early, But I hope all you love birds out there have a great Valentines Day. And boys, start planning something special for your hunnies! Doesn't matter if its cliche! Do it! Or just do it on anyday of the week. Just do it becuz its Wednesday or Just becuz its Thursday. That way she will know shes Extra special.
